Breaking Bread End Of Year Letter
Dear Partners —
2009 was a year of growing, learning, and stretching for Breaking Bread Food Pantry. The pantry has actually broken away from the church and has its own accounts and Board of Directors.
Our new board members for the 2010-2012 have been appointed. They are Leroy Fortner from The Masters Table, Joey LiBasci, owner of Libasci Contracting, Ronda Babikin with Ga. Dept of Motor Vehicles, Doug Anderson from Atlas Heating and Air, as well as Pastor Dewayne Payne, Senior Pastor of A New Walk Christian Fellowship and Jan Payne, A New Walk, Inc. and Co-Founder of Breaking Bread Food Pantry.
We went from a small, 900 square foot warehouse on High Street, 3 blocks from the church to 3,600 square foot warehouse on site. We now have a loading dock as well as a 10' X 13' walk in freezer. We also have 2 chest-type freezers, 3 upright freezers and 5 refrigerator freezers.
In 2009 we also hooked up with Atlanta Food Bank, which turned out to be a tremendous blessing for us and the people we help. It doubled our intake of products enabling us to reach out and expand our recipients. While we used to provide for 3 other ministries and 50 to 60 families, now we help 7 other ministries and touch over 350 families.
We pick up 6 days a week. We try to keep costs down by driving the van instead of the box truck whenever possible, but our gas and commercial insurance aren’t cheap. Because of these expenses, we are asking help from partners to help offset the cost. Since we are an established 501(c) (3) non-profit, all of your contributions will be tax deductable.
We ask that our partners commit to at least $200.00 per month for 1 year. We will gladly accept all donations, but in order to work from a budget we need to know month to month how much our guaranteed income will be.
We greatly appreciate all of your help and support.
